Many thanks for your reply. It seems that you are more organised than I am in the way of holidays.
Allow me to address your points. As a semi-retired international ex-Borders businessman living on the Continent, I am not running a commercial enterprise in assisting business set up in foreign companies; for this reason no website.
In a nutshell, I have lived in many countries around the world, and I have also incorporated and managed companies in various parts of the world. As my late father did, I would be more than happy to make my personal contribution to the Borders by guiding organisations that are wanting to spread their wings abroad. Further information about my business expertise can be found on my profile on LinkedIn under the name Dave Thomson; like you, I was involved in the travel industry for many years.
I hope this answers your questions; if not, I would be more than happy to discuss this with you over the phone; I would however need to have your number which was not stipulated on your e-mail
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I have been away on hols for a fortnight and only just returned.
I could circulate your email to our memnbers and other Borders Business organisations but it might help if you could let me know what kind of help you could give and perhaps a web site that they could look though?
Hi BruceHaving initially contacted Joan McAlpine MSP, I was given your name by Kirsty Boyle Parliamentary Office Manager to Paul Wheelhouse MSP (South of Scotland), Minister for Environment and Climate Change, suggesting I contact you.
For a while I have been pondering on the idea if in any way I, as a well travelled multi-lingual businessman as an ex-Borders Scot (Coldingham) living abroad could contribute in assisting companies in Berwickshire and the Borders expand their activities beyond the UK. For this reason, I am contacting you in the hope that you will be able to put me in contact with a body / organisation that could draw on my knowledge and expertise.
I am a businessman based in the Netherlands; I was brought up and educated in East Africa completing my studied in Edinburgh. Life has taken me to Asia where I incorporated and managed various companies for a Dutch organisation, lived and worked in Italy for an Italian company expanding its global marketing and sales, developed business for foreign companies in India, incorporated and managed various companies in the Netherlands. Currently as its MD, I am managing a scaling organisation that focuses on providing access to finance in the developing world. For further insight, you can find me as Dave Thomson on LinkedIn.
I suppose my interest in doing this as semi-retired businessman stems from my late father’s activities (T D Thomson C.M.G., O.B.E., M.A., Ll.B, F.S.A.Scot – “Who’s Who”) in Berwickshire when he returned to his roots after having spent >30 years in East Africa. He was one of the founders of EBDA-Easter Borders Development Association in Berwickshire in around 1970.
Should you feel we have common ground to discuss things further, I would welcome doing so, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Dear Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce
Dear Sir or Madam
I am a German student in the master degree course planning to do a marketing internship in Great Britain next year from the beginning of April to the end of September. I would love to work for a Scottish company not just to improve my language skills but also in order to apply the marketing knowledge I gained during my university studies and several internships.
I am writing to enquire if you could provide me with the names of some organizations which would like to benefit from a German native speaker in their everyday business dealings. I am sure that I would be a valuable asset especially for companies with German or Austrian clients.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
